This 1-year Ontario College Certificate program is designed in collaboration with Indigenous communities to provide foundational academic, transferable and personal skills development opportunities for First Nations, Metis and Inuit (FNMI) students to prepare them for further academic studies and to familiarize them with post-secondary educational expectations.

The Mamidosewin Learner Engagement Program (MLEP) is designed to better acquaint yourself with Indigenous-focused support services and events that are available at Algonquin College. The purpose of the MLEP is to increase your engagement and confidence in your ability to succeed at Algonquin College as a first year learner.

“For many Indigenous people, the drum is the heartbeat of Mother Earth; that’s what one of our Elder’s shared with me,” says Andre O’Bonsawin, Manager of Indigenous Initiatives for the College." “What we’re trying to do with this project is embed Indigenous Knowledge and cultural teachings in the College. The drums will  be used during important Algonquin College ceremonies, including Convocations.
